2024 Chronic Kidney Disease Detection and Treatment Mission

Closing the second week of June, we said goodbye to the Chronic Kidney Disease Detection and Treatment Mission, carried out in the municipalities of Montero and Minero, with our friends from Bridge of Life who brought with them a team of professional volunteers from the USA, Colombia, and Chile.

Our relationship with this amazing organization began in 2017, when we observed an alarming situation about the incidence of Chronic Diseases in the country: in the last 5 years, the reported cases of diabetes increased by 28%, and around 19% of the total population suffers from hypertension. Prevention and screening are key to address these issues in Bolivia.

Prevention and screening are key to address these issues in Bolivia.

We are proud to inform you that we have achieved important results through various chronic disease prevention activities: we screened more than 400 at-risk people, carried out specialized training for health personnel in two municipalities, educational sessions for children and adolescents, and workshops to encourage physical activity though Zumba classes.

We had a blast with these volunteers and all the people from Montero and Minero who participated! We look forward to the next mission.
