2024 Mid-Year Impact
It is hard to believe we are halfway through this year, but here we are. Our first six months of impact has focused on safe sanitation and community health.
The following results are a reason to thank each of you, our donors, volunteers and partner institutions for making positive and long- lasting change in the lives of many.
We hope you are inspired!
Sexual and Reproductive Health Program
Bolivia has one of the highest adolescent pregnancy rates in Latin America. The risk of maternal death for teens is 4 times greater than women 20-30 years old with preterm birth, low birth weight and neonatal death much higher for babies of teens. Our projects are based on community outreach, educational programming with local health staff and teenagers, with increased access to women forward contraceptives. Our partners are Rotary International, University of Minnesota School of Nursing, and The Conservation, Food and Health Organization, 24 high schools and 21 clinics.
Dry Ecological Composting Latrines
We started this program in 2023, impacting rural communities where over 90% of families use pit latrines. Our partner organizations on this project are Rotary International and the Municipality of San Pedro.
Chronic Disease Prevention Program
In the department of Santa Cruz, almost 11% of the population suffers from diabetes. We have been working with Bridge of Life, who are experts in chronic diseases, like diabetes and hypertension, for 7 years. In the first six months of 2024, we have worked with 10 local clinics in Montero to support and create programming for high-risk patients and educate high school students in diabetes prevention and healthy lifestyles.
Thank you for doing this work with Etta Projects!
